Pirates Wrap Up Two-A-Days

East Carolina moved one step closer to the official end of preseason camp by completing its last two-a-day schedule Monday morning and evening on Hight Field inside the Cliff Moore Practice Complex.

The Pirates worked for two hours in shells during the morning session before returning in full gear for another two-hour practice under the lights. Head coach Skip Holtz will close camp with a single workout early Tuesday afternoon before returning to a traditional in-season schedule Wednesday, which also marks the first day of classes on the East Carolina University campus.

"The light at the end of the tunnel is visible," Holtz said. "We'll wrap things up from a camp perspective Tuesday but obviously our full attention remains solely centered on getting this team ready for Virginia Tech. We've got to get our players familiar and comfortable with what they do from a schematic standpoint. We understand the challenge and the hill we have to climb but this is the only way we are going to build our program the right way."

Prior to implementing offensive and defensive game plans to ready themselves for their matchup against the Hokies Sept. 1, the Pirates keyed on plenty of team work, ball movement, third down and distance and redzone efficiency drills during the sessions.
