Pitt Community College softball player Nicole Jordan was named to the All-Region X Conference First Team along with teammates Amber Oakes and Ericka Taylor, PCC Athletic Director Junior Bailey announced today.
As a freshman for the Bulldogs this past season, Jordan led the National Junior College Athletic Association in hitting with a .589 (63-for-107) batting average. The Jamesville High School product stole a team-high 28 bases, brought in 24 runs and earned All-Region X Conference Tournament Team honors.
Oakes, a sophomore second baseman out of Greene Central High School, batted .396 (38-for-96) for the Bulldogs with 12 RBIs and 22 stolen bases.
Taylor, a catcher and former Farmville Central High School standout, hit .341 (31-for-91) as a freshman, tallied 24 RBIs and led the team in home runs with six.
Bailey said freshman first baseman Melissa Griffin was an All-Region X Conference Second Team selection. In 33 games, the Ayden-Grifton High School graduate batted .398 (39-for-98) and led PCC in runs batted in with 60 to go along with five home runs.
