The Frederick Keys crushed the K-Tribe 13-1 Friday night in Frederick, Maryland. K-Tribe starter Steven Wright (1-2) was touched up for 11 earned runs on six hits in 1 1/3 innings. Wright walked four men and hit two batters as he battled with his control all night. The K-Tribe tallied their only run of the game in the fifth inning, when Jose Constanza drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Kinston managed just two hits in the defeat. Frederick’s David Hernandez (7-10) took the win for the Keys, going seven innings and giving up just three hits.
The K-Tribe returns to Frederick on Saturday for game two of the three game series. Josh Tomlin is the scheduled starter for Kinston, game time 6:30 pm.
