San Francisco - President Bush has decided to touch base with
baseball's career home run leader after all.
The president -- a former owner of the Texas Rangers -- says he
offered his congratulations by phone today to Barry Bonds, who last
night hit the 756th home run of his career to pass Hank Aaron.
Bush, speaking to reporters on his way out of an economic
briefing in Washington, says it was his honor to call Bonds -- a
man the president calls "a really good hitter."
