Prosser, Wake Forest Coach, Dies At 56

Wake Forest University says basketball coach Skip Prosser has died at the age of 56.

Details of Prosser's death are unavailable, although the university posted a brief statement on its Web site announcing Prosser's death late this afternoon.

Prosser spent six seasons with the Demon Deacons, winning an
Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title in 2003 and reaching
the N-C-A-A tournament in his first four seasons. He also led Wake
Forest to the program's first Number One national ranking during
the 2004-2005 season.

Before arriving in Winston-Salem, Prosser was head coach at Xavier for seven seasons and at Loyola of Maryland for one year.

Prosser had a career record of 291-and-146 in 14 seasons, including a 126-68 record with Wake Forest. While there, he coached future N-B-A stars Chris Paul and Josh Howard, and was the A-C-C coach of the year in 2003.
