Griffey Hits Home Run #588

Javier Valentin (VAL'-ehn-teen) singled off closer Francisco Cordero to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning and Cincinnati beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-to-5.

The Reds tied it in the ninth on Scott Hatteberg's R-B-I single off Cordero, who blew his fourth save in 36 chances.

Ken Griffey Junior hit his 588th career homer as the Reds took three of four from the fading N-L Central leaders.

Jared Burton got the victory and is 2-and-1. Cordero fell to 0-and-3.

Since opening an eight and a-half game lead in the N-L Central, the Brewers have gone 13-and-15.

Ryan Braun and Tony Graffanino homered for Milwaukee.
