College GameDay To Be On-site For ECU-Va. Tech Opener

The 2007 season debut of College GameDay Built by The Home Depot - set for Saturday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. ET - will originate from Blacksburg, Va., prior to the season-opening East Carolina at Virginia Tech game, which will be televised on ESPN at noon.

Chris Fowler will host the program for his 18th season and will be joined by analysts Lee Corso, who has been affiliated with the show since its first year; Kirk Herbstreit, who joined in 1996; and Desmond Howard, who is entering his third year.

ESPN's telecast of East Carolina at Virginia Tech will be called by Mike Tirico, who serves as the commentator for ESPN's Monday Night Football, and ESPN college football analysts Todd Blackledge and Bill Curry.

"Virginia Tech is a special place and the community is one of the most respectful and passionate we have visited," said Norby Williamson, ESPN's executive vice president of production. "Our coverage will be considerate of the emotional day facing the students, faculty, and people of Blacksburg and the country."

College GameDay, entering its 21st season, will be aired every Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon during the college football season. This year will mark the 14th consecutive year that College GameDay will consistently originate from the site of one of the day's best games or most compelling storylines. Each site will generally be announced the Monday before the game.
