KINSTON – Max Ramirez, Chris Gimenez, David Huff and Frank Herrmann will head to Stockton, CA for the 2007 Carolina vs. California League All-Star Game taking place on June 19th. The four K-Tribe players will join Kinston Manager Mike Sarbaugh, Pitching Coach Tony Arnold and Trainer Chad Wolfe for the annual mid-season game.
Kinston Catcher Max Ramirez is hitting .291 with seven home runs and 32 RBI on the season. Ramirez is second in the Carolina League with a .410 on-base percentage. Kinston’s Chris Gimenez is the choice as utility infielder for the All-Star Team. Gimenez is hitting .270 with 12 home runs and 25 RBI. His 12 homers are the second most in the Carolina League this season, he also is third in slugging percentage with a .577 mark and 4th in on base percentage with a .392 mark. Gimenez has played catcher, first base, third base and in the outfield for Kinston this season. K-Tribe starter David Huff is 4-2 with a 2.72 ERA in eleven starts this season. Huff’s ERA is the fifth lowest in the league. K-Tribe starter Frank Herrmann is joining Huff on the All-Star pitching staff. Herrmann is 4-1 with a 3.30 ERA in eleven starts. Herrmann’s ERA is the 10th lowest in the league; he has walked just five batters through 62 plus innings this season.
The Carolina League All-Stars will face the California League All-Stars on Tuesday, June 19th at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton, California. The K-Tribe, with a Carolina League best 37-21, are on an eight game winning streak and open up an eight game home stand at Grainger Stadium tonight. Kinston has a five game lead over second place Salem in the Carolina League Southern Division with 11 games left to play in the first half of the season. Tonight’s first pitch is at 7pm for game one of a four game series against Myrtle Beach.
