North Carolina is moving on in its bid to go back to the College World Series.
Josh Horton's two-run single with two outs in the top of the ninth gave the Tar Heels their second straight come-from-behind victory, a 6-5 win over Western Carolina to clinch the Chapel Hill Regional title.
The Tar Heels trailed 5-4 and were down to their final out when they ignited the rally that prevented a winner-take-all finale.
Closer Andrew Carignan worked the ninth to earn his 14th save for North Carolina, which advances to next weekend's best-of-three super regional series against the Columbia, South Carolina, Regional champion, most likely in Chapel Hill.
Blake Murphy homered in the fifth and Nick Liles had a two-run double to highlight a four-run fourth inning for Western Carolina, which got the tying run to second in the bottom of the ninth. Greg Holland allowed two runs in two innings in losing for the second time in the regional.
