Pirates Hold Off UCF to Complete Suspended Game

GREENVILLE, N.C. The East Carolina-UCF baseball game that was suspended Saturday afternoon resumed Sunday morning at 11 a.m.

Play resumed in the top of fifth inning with the Pirates (33-17, 11-7) leading 7-1. UCF (24-27, 5-14) had runners on first and second with no out. UCF began chipping away at the league right away scoring two in the fifth before tying the game in the sixth inning at 7-7.

The game stayed knotted up until the bottom of the eighth inning when Pirate Catcher Corey Kemp Homered off of Justin Weiss. Shane Matthews got his third win of the year for ECU. The Pirates stole eight bases during the course of the two-day game, the most they have had all season.

The third and final game of the series will get underway 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two. It was originally scheduled for 1 p.m.
