The East Carolina baseball team will be without the services of shortstop Dale Mollenhauer for the next few weeks and possibly the rest of the season.
Mollenhauer broke a bone in his right hand over the weekend against Southern Miss and will have surgery Wednesday to repair the break. He will miss at least three weeks but head coach Billy Godwin is optomistic that Mollenhauer can return before the end of the season.
It's the same injury former Pirate shortstop Billy Richardson suffered back in 2005. He missed 4 weeks before returning in time for the postseason.
