Kinston Closes Out Home Stand With Win Over Lynchburg

The K-Tribe exploded for a season high 10 runs and 12 hits, beating the Lynchburg Hillcats 10-6 Thursday night at Grainger Stadium. Kinston (10-7) scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning, when Stephen Head and Wes Hodges each hit home runs. Hodges went 4-for-4, with three singles, a two-run round tripper and three runs scored. Head added four RBI. Kinston infielder Brian Finegan touched up Hillcat pitching for a 3-for-4 night.

Kinston reliever TJ Burton (3-0) picked up his Carolina League Leading third win of the season, throwing two innings of one hit ball. K-Tribe starter Kevin Dixon did not qualify for the win, going four and two-thirds inning. Lynchburg starter Blair Johnson (1-1) did not get out of the first inning, allowing three walks, three hits and five earned runs.

Kinston hits the road for its first seven game road trip of the season on Friday. The K-Tribes first stop is Salem, Virginia for a three game series with the Avalanche. Kinston will send Sung-Wei Tseng to the mound, first pitch 7:07. Kinston returns to Grainger Stadium on Friday, May 4th for a short, three game home stand.
