GREENVILLE, N.C. - Six regular season East Carolina football games, four at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and two on the road, are scheduled for live television coverage in 2013 according to Conference USA's release of preliminary broadcast selections Tuesday.
FOX Sports Media Group will air five contests, beginning with the Pirates' C-USA opener against Florida Atlantic on Thursday, Sept. 5 and a visit by Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia Tech nine days later on Sept. 14.
Two of East Carolina's three games in the month of October will also be broadcast by FOX Sports, including its initial league road contest at Middle Tennessee on Oct. 5 and a meeting against long-time rival Southern Miss on Oct. 19. A matchup with defending C-USA champion Tulsa on Nov. 9 rounds out the Pirates' schedule with the third-year league partner, which consists of FOX Sports Network (FSN), FOX College Sports (FCS) and FOX Sports 1, a new national sports cable network expected to launch in August.
CBS Sports Network, which will begin its ninth year of Conference USA coverage this fall, will call the season finale when the Pirates visit Marshall for a pivotal league intra-divisional battle in Huntington, W.Va. on Friday, Nov. 29.
Start times of 7:30 p.m. and 12 noon have been established by FOX for contests against the Owls and Hokies, respectively, while a 12 noon kickoff will open the tilt against the Herd. The other three FOX assignments - games against the Blue Raiders, Golden Eagles and Golden Hurricane - will all observe a 12-day start time announcement window.
The 2013 C-USA Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 7 is scheduled to air on either ESPN or ESPN 2, marking the ninth-straight year that the league's title contest will be broadcast on the ESPN Family of Networks.
ECU's local television package, which is coordinated by the Pirate IMG Sports Network, and possible additional selections by FOX Sports, CBSSN or other networks will be announced when finalized.
