EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress says he expects quarterback Brett Favre (fahrv) to play the entire first half in their next exhibition game at Houston.

The 39-year-old Favre was signed last Tuesday, so he missed the first preseason game against Indianapolis. He played two series against Kansas City on Friday night, going 1 for 4 for 4 yards and failed to lead the offense to a first down.

The Vikings' third preseason game is next Monday night, and typically is when coaches play their starters the most. Childress says it will be important for Favre to get plenty of snaps to try to build chemistry with his offensive teammates before the regular season opens Sept. 13 at Cleveland.

Elsewhere around the NFL:
--Michael Vick's teammates say the quarterback looks ready to play when the Philadelphia Eagles host Jacksonville on Thursday. Coach Andy Reid will probably make a decision tomorrow on whether Vick will make his Eagles debut in an exhibition home game against the Jaguars. Vick is eligible to play the next two preseason games, but not in the regular season. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell (guh-DEHL') said he would consider Vick for full reinstatement by no later than Week 6.
-- Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer is expected to miss another preseason game because of a sprained left ankle. Palmer suffered the injury during the preseason opener and sat out a game last Thursday against New England. He'll likely sit out Thursday's game against St. Louis as well. Palmer says he's confident he'll be ready for the season opener against the Denver Broncos because the ankle is getting better each day.
-- The 49ers have taken Ray McDonald off the physically unable to perform list. The defensive end hurt his right knee last October and started only two more games the rest of the season. He later underwent reconstructive surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament and missed the offseason workouts.
-- Linebacker Vince Redd has been waived by the Kansas City Chiefs. He had been claimed off waivers from New England on Aug. 4. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound Redd played in five games for the Patriots last season.
-- The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed free agent linebacker Adam Seward. A fifth-round draft pick in 2005 from Nevada-Las Vegas, Seward played in 40 games the past four seasons in Carolina. He signed with Indianapolis in March and was waived Saturday.
-- The Dolphins have given up on their experiment with Ernest Wilford, who was moved from receiver to tight end this year. Wilford's contract has been terminated. Wilford caught only three balls for 25 yards last season after signing a four-year deal for $6 million guaranteed.
-- Miami has traded offensive linemen Andy Alleman and Ikechuku Ndukwe to the Kansas City Chiefs for an undisclosed 2010 draft choice. Ndukwe started 15 games at right guard for Miami last season after an injury to Donald Thomas. Alleman played in 15 games and made four starts last season.
-- Seahawks coach Jim Mora tells KJR radio that Chris Spencer is out at least a month due to a torn thigh muscle. Seattle is already without nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Walter Jones, who had his second knee surgery in eight months last week.
-- The agent for Baltimore Ravens undrafted rookie Tony Fein says the linebacker's weekend arrest in Baltimore was the result of police profiling. A police spokesman says Fein was eating at Johnny Rockets when a security officer thought he saw him pass a handgun to a friend. It turned out to be a cell phone. Fein's agent, Milton Dee Hobbs, says police approached Fein because he was a black man wearing a sweat suit and hoodie.
