Happiest and Greg, good job quieting the naysayers. Seriously, to be a school the size that they are, Jamesville is tough on a softball field. As a graduate of Manteo High School and a fan of Manteo softball, most of us see Jamesville as one of the big hurdles to cross to get out of the east and to Walnut Creek. Jamesville, Gates and the schools from down state are the toughest things between us and Raleigh.

As a former resident of Williamston and a fan of softball, I went to Walnut Creek to check out the tournament and give Jamesville a look. Considering the size of the school, their performance was amazing. The other schools at Walnut Creek were 4 to 12 times the size of Jamesville, but they hung tough. Also, they had an amazing crowd, one of the two or three largest at the event, including the 4A school crowds. They were loud and got behind their team.

Congratulations to Jamesville for getting to Walnut Creek. Victories over Perquimans, Williamston and Camden were expected, but the big win over Manteo was impressive. Your success, as well as the the strength of the Bear Grass program, is nothing short of amazing. The ability of these two programs to pull teams from groups of 80 to 90 girls and then thump neighboring programs that pull from groups of 250 to 500 is evidence of great kids, parents and coaches. Keep it up, you guys are obviously doing a lot of things right.
