Happiest and Greg, good job quieting the naysayers. Seriously, to be a school the size that they are, Jamesville is tough on a softball field. As a graduate of Manteo High School and a fan of Manteo softball, most of us see Jamesville as one of the big hurdles to cross to get out of the east and to Walnut Creek. Jamesville, Gates and the schools from down state are the toughest things between us and Raleigh.

As a former resident of Williamston and a fan of softball, I went to Walnut Creek to check out the tournament and give Jamesville a look. Considering the size of the school, their performance was amazing. The other schools at Walnut Creek were 4 to 12 times the size of Jamesville, but they hung tough. Also, they had an amazing crowd, one of the two or three largest at the event, including the 4A school crowds. They were loud and got behind their team.

Congratulations to Jamesville for getting to Walnut Creek. Victories over Perquimans, Williamston and Camden were expected, but the big win over Manteo was impressive. Your success, as well as the the strength of the Bear Grass program, is nothing short of amazing. The ability of these two programs to pull teams from groups of 80 to 90 girls and then thump neighboring programs that pull from groups of 250 to 500 is evidence of great kids, parents and coaches. Keep it up, you guys are obviously doing a lot of things right.

I just hope they win more games than Jamesville did when they got to Wal-nut Creek.

To Baker at the high school level is where success is judged. Martin county is owned by one school that is Jamesville. Prove it at the high school level Walnut Creek. 4 years.

This was a very nice tournament and all the teams I got to see did great. I especially enjoyed the 18u Crossroads AKA Williamston and Washington game. Crossroads is on the road to Alabama. Good luck to them. Also, 12uPitt Co just won their first game in Va & Play again 4pm tom. Good Luck to them and all the others as well. Sportmanship is something taught in this game and I hope some of the spectators can learn a little sportmanship as well.

To all the Girls, Parents & Fans of all ages - It is an accomplishment just to get to the State Tournament level of play. Win or Lose, it takes alot of hard work over ALOT of years to acquire the playing skills, determination and dedication to even compete. While some teams emerged as victors this past week and others fell short you should all keep your heads held high. Alot of the girls we saw have the potential of going to higher levels of competition with continued support from their parents, coaches, leagues and even fans. We all want to win but getting better everyday is really the name of the game. Our favorite teams can't always win and sometimes it stings when they lose. I for one am very proud of all the teams and their levels of effort. I believe we have a great group of teams representing our state in the upcoming Regional Tournament and World Series. I wish them all luck. And I wish any girls reading this lots of luck in the future. Keep playing ball...
