The Roanoke High School boys and girls basketball teams defeated Southside on Monday night. The Redskin boys team beat Southside 81-30 behind a game high 21 points from Amos Perkins. Pavin Sheppard added 13 points for Roanoke in the victory.

On the girls side, Roanoke scored in the final seconds of the game to edge Southside 50-48. Kara Land led the way in scoring for the Redskins with 19 points. Valerie Ruffin scored 14 points for Southside.
