Nashville, TN - Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson is not happy about finishing second to Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan in the AP Rookie Of The Year voting.

"He's a good player, and he played quarterback and did a good job this year," Johnson said of Ryan. "But the whole thing is bogus, because people are voting for it that are not on the same field as the people who are playing. I'm disappointed. I did all I could to win it. I feel I did the best. I feel I did all I could do to win it; it just didn't come my way."

Ryan earned 44 of the 50 first place votes while Johnson only picked up three.

Johnson went on to say that he was the only rookie who made the pro bowl so the rookie of the year award should have been his.

"Ive proved people wrong before. I'll focus on winning a Super Bowl and show them they made a mistake." Johnson said.

well deadfish...this is a football thread, not a sportmanship thread. so take your own advice and stop posting comments about bad sportsmanship. once more this is a FOOTBALL thread, DUH? thank you.

joepirate: This thread is about your Crying Juvenile, Cheap Jerk whatever NOT about basketball. I hope you know the difference between a FB and a BB. The roundball is well known in this neighborhood! Once more this is a [FOOTBALL]thread, DUH? Thank you

dave can say all he wants, but in the end he is a front runner. how do u like pitt in basketball and penn st. in football? no excuses for that. doesnt matter if your brother went to pitt and your sister went to penn st., or whatever the excuse was. ask any self respecting michigan fan if they would cheer for michigan st. in basketball. ask any self respecting usc fan (deadfish) if they would cheer for ucla in basketball. the real deal is that u chose to like pitt in basketball because they are traditonally better than penn st. and u chose to like penn st in football because they are traditionally better than pitt.

Mr. Bill: Thank you, Sir for your vote of confidence. Bashing comes with the territory. My attitude about that is simple. Anytime anyone posts anything is like this you write, I read and then I blast you. The catch is that any claims made must be backed-up. I honestly think that I have done that. When you do that you gain credibility. Please check my latest post on the Kentucky Defeats ECU thread. Finally I am surprised of the very little Feedback to Matt Ryan chosen the Offensive ROY by AP. Obviously the Crying Juvenile has been quiet about it so far! Stay tuned!

Thanks for the props Bill. I guess some of these people want us all to be ECU lovers and talk about how great they are. Little do they know is that Scout.com has message boards for people like that.

Posted by: Bill Location: Greenville on Jan 8, 2009 at 02:17 AM
people need to stop bashing deadfish and dave. they are keeping these topics alive on this site. they stir the pot and i like that. what fun would these topics be if we all just agreed with each other. clearly they are not kool-aid drinkers! carry on gentlemen!

I watched the game, but I missed the parade. It was a good game, of course I expected as much. Yeah, the Liberty Bowl was a heartache, but hey, what can ya do? Oh yeah, we can recruit for better athletes, haha, but seriously, it's over now soooo...on to next year. Before you know it, spring ball will be here, then I'll probably watch the combine and the Draft to see who goes where (hoping the Panthers and the Dolphins make some really good selections this year), then before you know it, it'll be time to get my fantasy teams together, break out my tailgate gear, and endure this whole thing all over again, lol. I think next season I'm investing in some Tums or Rolaids. This year just about gave me an ulcer.

The Pirate Lady: Thank you, with ALL due respect noted. BTW a few hours ago AP announced that Matt Ryan is their offensive ROY. Stay tuned for the Crying Juvenile reaction to those news. Did you watch the Rose Bowl, the parade? BTW I read your comments post the LB! You were very passionate then and reflecting back they are funny! Take care!

Hey DF: Sorry, I'm late! To answer your question, I didn't ignore CJ's bellyaching, and otherwise poor attitude about not winning MVP. I just choose to speak about Matt Ryan. But since you asked...lol...I personally did not like the way CJ came across in his statement. He sounded like a prima donna, and I've been saying all season to people that if CJ's not careful, he's going to get a big head. From the drum incident, to the "NFL means No Fun League" til now, it's just been a bad look from CJ, in my opinion. He's a rookie, and yeah, he's doing great things, but clearly the judges or whoever made the decision for MVP didn't agree he was #1. So, good luck CJ, in the Pro Bowl, and yeah, being the only rookie to go (as an alternate) says a lot, but let Matt Ryan have his time to shine. There df, is that better? :o)

joepirate: Sir: I am NOT the "morale police" NOR Judge Judy NOR Judge Mathis. I am a sports fan like you. The difference between us is that I prove my points cleanly and I back-up my arguments with facts. Secondly I have more credibility than you on this blog despite being an USC Trojan fan. Thirdly I am respected by other ECU fans. Finally I did NOT defend Dave. I am a straight shooter. Had somebody else said that about you I would have made the statements about them. I stand by the principle. Justice is blind, Sir. Thank you

Bah, I sure get mad when Dave talks bad about ECU. Because of Dave I hate PSU, the Steelers, and every other team that he likes.

Posted by: Dave on Jan 7, 2009 at 01:48 PM
joepirate can say what he wants but when the dust settles he is nothing but an ECU fan.

joepirate: With ALL due respect Sir please look-up sportsmanship in a dictionary. The "mrs. cleo" low class rhetoric is despicable, childish and unwarranted. Furthermore it does NOT prove anything much less to your "pseudo journalistic" blogging abilities. If I were you I post an apology. Thank you

Posted by: joepirate Location: greenville on Jan 6, 2009 at 08:26 PM
way to go dave...you are now batting .200 on your predictions....keep up the good work mrs. cleo.

Hey "CITY" in Baltimore, chris had a great year, and he should be proud, but it just shows the lack of class he has to disrespect Matt Ryan like that, If he had won the ROY Award, I bet Matt Ryan would not have said a word, But then again Matt Ryan went to BC and not EC.

Posted by: Big T Location: greenville on Jan 6, 2009 at 10:16 AM
Good prediction dave! You were correct, just as I was about the Rose Bowl. Unfortunately I was right about OSU as well. All three of my CFB teams were WAY overrated: ECU, PSU, and OSU. Guess it was because of their pitiful conferences. And KU "beat" ECU? I think not. ECU beat ECU and the fact that the arrogant KU coach talked about his team's "great comeback", please...accept the gift you were given and go back to kentucky. Just like Joe-Pa needs to send a thank you note to Pete Carrol for playing every kid on the squad so the score would be respectable. Hey if Pete had played the cheerleaders maybe PSU could have gotten to within 3? They need to take their gift back to PA and get ready for 09. That could have been much uglier than it was. And for CJ? I am very disappointed in his.."performance" and will agree with the Crying Juvenile rename!

Posted by: Dave on Jan 5, 2009 at 06:45 PM
That interview with Crying Juvenile needs to have subtitles under it so educated people like myself can understand what he's trying to say.

Posted by: CITY Location: Baltimore on Jan 5, 2009 at 05:37 PM
Wow !! Chris Johnson has every right to feel the way he feels.. He has done better than M.R. (Makeshift Rookie) Matt Ryan this year hands down. Uh, let me think best record, AFC South Division Champion , 9 touchdowns, 1,228 yards. And hopefully a chance to see the super bowl his rookie season !! In the end he will have a far better career than Mr. Makeshift.... Please stop hating !!!!!

Posted by: Dave on Jan 5, 2009 at 01:57 PM
This is the playoffs joepirate, a WHOLE NEW season. Oh, and how about them Wildcats? You know, the Liberty Bowl CHAMPS!! That is my proudest prediction!!

Posted by: joepirate Location: greenville on Jan 5, 2009 at 12:37 PM
"I can't wait to watch the Baltimore defense put the hurting on Childish Juvenile and the rest of the Titans"....thats sounds familiar to the steelers prediction you had...hmmmm, what happened that game?

Posted by: Tim Location: La Grange on Jan 5, 2009 at 10:07 AM
Quoting Judd Nelson from "The Breakfast Club"- "B-o-o-h-o-o." "Crying Jack---" is more appropriate. You can figure out the last three letters on your own.

Posted by: Dave on Jan 5, 2009 at 02:04 AM
ROY is bases on REGULAR season stats! It has NOTHING to do with the post season. Speaking of post season, I can't wait to watch the Baltimore defense put the hurting on Childish Juvenile and the rest of the Titans.

Posted by: Rob Location: NC on Jan 5, 2009 at 12:02 AM
Watch this overrated jock cry to good ol' rev. Al Sharpton. then we will hear Shapton's "Needses to be fired" tirades again.

Posted by: deadfish Location: NC on Jan 4, 2009 at 07:36 PM
Mr. Bill: Yes, Sir! I stand corrected. Regardless it is definitely atrocious and barbaric English. It is sad, Sir... Again thanks, deadfish

Posted by: Bill Location: Greenville on Jan 4, 2009 at 05:22 PM
deadfish... I think CJ Fan was comparing Chris Johnson's grasp on the English language to former Wolfpack big man Charles Shackleford. He made this remark after a game.. "I can shoot with my left hand, I can shoot with my right hand, I'm amphibious".

Posted by: deadfish Location: NC on Jan 4, 2009 at 05:02 PM
C(rying!)J(uvenile!) Fan: No wonder I keep harping on ECU being the #206 academically rated school in the nation. It is because of writing like yours. I would NOT mention "amphibious", NOT even sarcastically when I'm absolutely referring to dexterity, specifically ambidextrous which simply stated it means being able to use skillfully either [left] or [right] hand. Obviously the Crying Juvenile and you both desperately NEED English lessons.

Posted by: DK Location: Greenville on Jan 4, 2009 at 10:33 AM
I have to agree. Why isnt the ROY in the Pro Bowl?

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 3, 2009 at 10:28 PM
USC '00 ALUM. Chris Johnson can't carry Matt Rayn's jock strap, much less win the ROY. as far as the playoffs, Kerry Collins is the reason the Titans in there, it sure is not Chris Johnson. He needs to use some of that money and get those teeth fixed.

Posted by: USC '00 alum Location: winterville nc on Jan 3, 2009 at 07:24 PM
Are you kidding me??? Matt Ryan can't even lead his team through the first round of the playoffs. Down by 2 touchdowns as we speak. CJ WAS snubbed. Even if Chris can't put a sentence together, he is making more $$$ than any of us. Who's smarter now???

Posted by: CJ Fan on Jan 3, 2009 at 06:35 PM
Chris.... please learn to talk more better, it's almost as bad as that time that NC State alum said "it's not a big deal for me i'm amphibious" when asked about dribbling with his left and right hands. Dead fish smell

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 3, 2009 at 02:57 PM
Chris, you had a great year, but get over it. You did not win ROY. Get back in school and get an education. You sound stupid when you speak, you are better off running and not saying a thing. I kind of wish he would not mention ECU anymore, He is a bad reflection on the school

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 3, 2009 at 02:53 PM
I think Rev. Jesse Jackson needs to come to greenville and protest.

Posted by: DAVE on Jan 3, 2009 at 12:46 PM
Chris Johnson needs to quit whining about not winning ROY and focus more on learining to speak proper English.

Posted by: Al on Jan 2, 2009 at 11:11 PM
Maybe the governor of Illinois will appoint Johnson to the senate.

Posted by: deadfish Location: NC on Jan 2, 2009 at 08:42 PM
Editor: Sore loser: ECU lost and you are in a bad mood. What's the matter can't you handle a defeat? I would guess [NOT]! That's cool!

Hey Chris Here's your pacifier.

WITN editor, moderator, whatever: Are you selective again? Do I need to change my user name to Pirate face?

Posted by: WOW on Jan 2, 2009 at 07:08 PM
This guy Johnson sounds completely illiterate when he talks.

Posted by: deadfish Location: NC on Jan 2, 2009 at 05:42 PM
TPL: With ALL due respect WHY did you ignore his "Crying Juvenile" bellyaching unprofessional unsportsmanlike comment(s)? You have been a fair, objective and unbiased CFB fan and commentator as well. Your comment is overruled by your "heart" and maternal instinct(s) instead of your better judgment with ALL due respect. Thank you

Posted by: The Pirate Lady Location: Grimesland on Jan 2, 2009 at 03:25 PM
I love CJ, bless his heart, but I think the Rookie MVP went to the right person. Matt Ryan has been key to turning the Falcons around. I'm a Panthers fan, but I can say that Atlanta is very good this year, coming off of a bad season last year, and they couldn't have done that, in part, without Matt Ryan.

Posted by: Earl Location: Pitt County on Jan 2, 2009 at 11:53 AM
CLASS - If Johnson had actually attended any while at ECU, he might have developed some. Too bad that he only attended the T. Owens School of Arrogance and Stupidity. Kuddos to the current and former ECU athletes that represent the school well.

Posted by: Dave on Jan 2, 2009 at 11:26 AM
CJ now stands for Crying Juvenile.

Posted by: Barry Location: Greenville on Jan 2, 2009 at 11:13 AM
Dave: Also, if you are an Eng. 1100 instructor, I would tread very lightly on your "party school" comments, fwiw. Research shows otherwise, ECU is quite "average" per partying. Additionally, the Chair of the Faculty Senate has sent notice to Department Chairs this past semester pertaining to such erroneous, inflammatory remarks by GTA's.

Posted by: Barry Location: Greenville on Jan 2, 2009 at 10:54 AM
Dave: An English major. I KNEW it! Your posts have the absolute olfactory ambience of a English graduate student. At last, your "personality" issues now make TOTAL sense to me, it has all come 'round 360. Thank you! ECU has SOME very good English graduate students, I have known several. Alas for you, my written skills are far superior to what you possess (and my undergrad. was in biology for crying out loud!). I feel pity for your Eng. 1100/1200 students. Best of luck in your future career of teaching in the Pa. school district. Teaching is a noble endeavor. May I suggest teaching in the public schools of greater Pottsville? I'll be sure to tell my buddy Wendy S. of your great love for ol' EC. Go Pirates!

Posted by: KJ Location: Houston on Jan 1, 2009 at 11:23 PM
What an idiot. First of all, he doesn't deserve it. He's a solid running back behind a great offensive line. Second, anyone who complains about not winning individual awards during a possible championship run is just not worth having around.

Posted by: Bill Location: Greenville on Jan 1, 2009 at 09:39 PM
I have read many posts on this site and used to be stunned quite often by the poor grammar and seemingly lazy typing. I came to realize that nobody here is turning in a paper to be graded and this is a texting generation where quicker is better. So...when in Rome... c u gyz latr.

Posted by: Dave on Jan 1, 2009 at 09:22 PM
I am embarrassed to call myself an English major attending ECU with all of the poor grammatical errors I see on this site. deadfish I guess the beer bottle is more important than a textbook at the "party school" known as ECU.

Posted by: deadfish Location: NC on Jan 1, 2009 at 08:27 PM
Dave: Are you referring to this link(!)?: http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/college/national-counselor-rank According to this link ECU is rated #206. I read CJ's comments on the link you posted on another thread. Read the thread posted here(below) on 1 Jan 09 at 02:56 PM. It is synonymous with poor sentence construction and redundancy! I heard they call ECU a party school therefore less attention paid to the academic side. Stay tuned!

Posted by: Dave on Jan 1, 2009 at 06:09 PM
After watching that interview I can see why ECU is ranked so poorly in academics.

Posted by: Cactus Location: Strabane on Jan 1, 2009 at 06:07 PM
CJ, you want cheese with that whine.?

Posted by: ECUSux on Jan 1, 2009 at 05:50 PM
What a poor sport. BOO HOO SNIFFLE SNIFFLE!

Posted by: joepirate Location: greenville on Jan 1, 2009 at 02:56 PM
i love cj, but i have to disagree with him on this one. ryan was a beast for a team that was a wreck last year, and now they are in the playoffs. if it wasnt for carolina having a beast year, they probly would have won the division. but on the same token, if he is using this for motivation, more power to him. i'll be rooting for the titans in the afc, and of course panthers in the nfc.

Posted by: Dave on Jan 1, 2009 at 02:38 PM
Hey WITN do I get any credit for posting this??
