RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled goaltender Justin Peters from Albany of the American Hockey League
after starter Cam Ward suffered a groin injury.

Tuesday's move marks the first NHL recall for Peters, who was
Carolina's second-round selection in the 2004 entry draft. The 22-year-old Peters is 3-7-2 this season for Albany, with a 2.79 goals-against average, a .911 save percentage and one shutout.

To clear room for Peters, the Hurricanes placed defenseman Tim
Gleason, who has missed the last four games with a leg injury, on
injured reserve.

Ward suffered a groin injury during last Sunday's game against Anaheim.
