ELON, N.C. (AP) -- Scott Riddle threw three touchdown passes and
Brandon Newsome scored twice to spark Elon to a 31-10 victory over
Furman on Saturday.
Riddle was 21 of 30 for 160 yards and Newsome rushed for 161
yards on 25 carries for the Phoenix (5-1, 3-0 Southern Conference),
who never trailed.
Riddle threw second-quarter touchdown passes of 12 yards to A.J.
Harris and 28 yards to Terrell Hudgins to give Elon a 17-3 halftime
lead.

GARDNER-WEBB-CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- John Paglia hit a 26-yard field with 1
second remaining in the game to lift Charleston Southern to a 13-10
victory over Gardner-Webb on Saturday.
Paglia's game-winning kick was set up by Gerald Stevenson's
65-yard kickoff return after Gardner-Webb (2-3, 0-1 Big South) tied
the game at 10-10 on Ryan Gates' 21-yard field goal with 1:46 left.
Reese finished with 135 yards passing for Charleston Southern
(2-3, 1-0), which scored its only touchdown on Alex Neal's 31-yard
pass to Tim Jones with 3:01 left in the first quarter.

SAMFORD-W CAROLINA
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) -- Dustin Taliaferro threw two touchdown
passes and Chris Evans ran for 166 yards and a score to lead
Samford to a 21-6 win over Western Carolina on Saturday.
Taliaferro, who was 14-of-16 for 154 yards, connected with
Jonathan Lowery on a 22-yard touchdown to give the Bulldogs (3-2) a
14-6 lead with 6:50 left in the third quarter. Taliaferro added a
38-yard score to Riley Hawkins.

DAVIDSON-MOREHEAD ST
MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) -- Mason Webb tied a Morehead State record
with four field goals as the Eagles defeated Davidson 26-13 on
Saturday.
Webb hit field goals of 20, 31, 19 and 22 yards to tie the
record set by Joey Herbst, who hit four fields against Davidson in
2002.
The Eagles (3-2, 1-0 Pioneer Football League) opened a 23-7
advantage when Sawyer hit Brendan McLaughlin for a 30-yard
touchdown on the final play of the first half.

CAMPBELL-DAYTON
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- Ben Shappie matched a school-record by
scoring a career-best five touchdowns to lead Dayton to a 42-0
victory over Campbell Saturday.
Shappie rushed for 124 yards on 17 carries, topping 100 yards
for the first time in his career. He scored on runs of 3, 1, 2, 21
and 3 yards. Rob Florian tossed an 18-yard scoring pass to Justin
Millio for the other Dayton TD. Nick Glavin added the point-after
kicks each time for the Flyers (4-1, 1-0 Pioneer League).
