With Hanna coming toward the coast, many have called WITN-TV asking about the status of this weekend's ECU game in Greenville.

We talked to university officials Wednesday. They said they are watching the storm closely, and they don't plan to make a decision until at least Thursday.

We'll keep you posted.

Well well well, Where are all the Trash Talking WV fans now?!?!? Hahahahahahahahaha!

Posted by: Pirate Location: Greenville on Sep 6, 2008 at 08:54 PM
This is for Pack and Dave. I tried to tell you guys and my 31 to 6 score almost came true. I've been watching these guys practice and around campus. This years Pirates are the real thing. WVA toted a true first class "whuppin". First time in 7 years failed to score a TD and that is with PAT WHITE. I do not dislike WVA but they were simply outclassed tonight! And, you let em have it Alex, I bet the Go Mountaineer bloggers will disappear like the WVA offense did tonight. Hannah had nothing to do with them wanting to cancel the game. The FEAR of exactly what happened is why the WVAers wanted this game cancelled, had nothing to do with a tropical storm!

GO PIRATES!!!!...ARRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Posted by: Dave Location: Greenville on Sep 5, 2008 at 09:54 PM
That's why I hate ECU, EVERYBODY in Greenville thinks they are God's gift to football! Where was the Pirate Nation during the JOHN THOMPSON YEARS?

Posted by: Jonathan Location: Plymouth on Sep 5, 2008 at 09:04 PM
Go Mountaineers, the pirates can't stop Pat White. Enjoy last weeks win ECU cause the next two weeks are losses!!!!!!!

Dude, nobody cares who's gonna win and who's gonna lose. Keep your comments to yourself and watch the game if it happens... and speaking of that, I'm going to be one of the few that actually STAYS ON TOPIC here... so what's the situation for the game tomorrow? Game on or postponed?

Editor: Game On!

ECU..........has no chance againest WVU

Posted by: Purple and Gold Heart on Sep 5, 2008 at 02:27 PM
The ECU Pirate ship is strong enough to withstand the greatest of opponents whether it be hurricanes or opposing teams. The Pirates will prevail against WVU!!! We will be shouting AAARRRGGGHHH because we will come out with a victory over those Mountaineers.

Posted by: Pirate Location: Greenville on Sep 5, 2008 at 02:01 PM
38 points, you have got to be kidding me. WVA couldn't score 38 two years ago when they were "good"! Last year was a fluke, there were...."items off the field" affecting the play of the pirates. Problems in which brother skip has taken care of. If WVA wins....it will surprise me. I saw the game last week and highlights of last wva game. I just don't see it happening. For crying out loud, we made mistakes last week, yes, but those mistakes were the only reason tech was still in the game. I might also add that when WVA was here in 06 they won because we made mistakes that handed you the game. Allison holds on to the ball and you would have gone down. I know, if is a big word, but these boys have matured and I think tomorrow you will find out just how much. Good luck Dave. (by the way, I factored in a boo-boo in my prediction, I think we are still young enough we will probably hand you a score) IF..we make no mistakes, I will say 31-6 ECU but I will just have to wait and see.

GET YOUR PURPLE ON BABY, IT'S PIRATE FOOTBALL TIME. We have the right to hold our heads up high b/c we practice, have the talent, and are well coached, just like the mountaineers. There's no need to talk smack until after the game. Enjoy tailgating and Football. May the best team win!

Posted by: DAVE Location: Greenville on Sep 5, 2008 at 10:35 AM
Sorry "Pirate" but the score will be: WVU 38 ECU 24

Posted by: Pirate Location: Greenville on Sep 5, 2008 at 09:58 AM
All you people downing ecu should be ashamed of yourselves. If there were no ecu here you may as well live in grimesland because that is all greenville would be without ecu. And the pirates are not a "bad" team. A bad team is one that has no fan base. A problem that the pirates simply do not have. ECU 21-WVU 17! That is why you mountaineers want the game cancelled. Your fear of Hannah has nothing to do with it, its your fear of PeeDee! (or P.D. which means PIRATE DOMINANCE!) And besides west virginian should be the last to hound someone about their reputation. Many folks there have recently discovered that they are thier own grandfather! Just kidding a little "regional" humor!(saying all WVers are inbred is as likely as all Pirates being drunks) Go Pirates!

Posted by: Grant Location: Here on Sep 5, 2008 at 02:44 AM
The only AAAARRGHHH that ECU fans will be doing after the game is this: AAAAARRRGGGHHHHHH our beloved Pirates lost to WVU by 40 points!

Posted by: WVU #1 Location: WVU!!! on Sep 4, 2008 at 09:38 PM
WVU has played in SNOW STORMS a little water and wind won't stop the Mountaineer Machine from sinking the Pirates ship!! HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

You put the beer on ice either way. Bc there will be a football game or a hurricane party. GO PIRATES!!!

Posted by: Scott Location: Greenville on Sep 4, 2008 at 05:01 PM
ECU fans are a bunch of drunks. Well, if I rooted for a bad team like ECU, I'd get blitzed too!

Posted by: mikey Location: washington on Sep 4, 2008 at 04:41 PM
Let's Go Pirates!!! We welcome the challenge of WVU with or without a little hurricane action!!!

Posted by: Emily Location: Greenville on Sep 4, 2008 at 04:01 PM
Hey "concerned," You're absolutely right we're more concerned that we won't have a game to party at. ECU fans know how to do it right! Pirates...ARRRGH!!!!

Posted by: Tom Location: LaGrange on Sep 4, 2008 at 03:39 PM
Tick Tock!!! When will find out! I need to know if I need to put the beer on ice!

Posted by: anonymous Location: ENC on Sep 4, 2008 at 03:32 PM
They need to do something so no one's life will be in jeopardy trying to get to a football game, especially if it is raining like cats and dogs. Oh and by the way you ECU fans are beginning to be just as annoying as UNC fans.

Posted by: concerned Location: Greenville on Sep 4, 2008 at 03:19 PM
I think most of the fans are more concerned they will not have game to party at instead of being concerned about safety. Did they forget tornadoes could be a part of this storm also.

Posted by: DK Location: Greenville on Sep 4, 2008 at 03:02 PM
Do the Mountaineers need to wear mouth pieces?

Posted by: Jesse Location: Greenville, NC on Sep 4, 2008 at 02:59 PM

GO PIRATES!!!!!

Posted by: B Location: Washington on Sep 4, 2008 at 08:22 AM
Get real...you read my mind I was thinking the same thing...This thing may come through here and some people are more worried about a game...I think there are more important things to worry about here besides some game!

Posted by: Rick Location: Greenville on Sep 4, 2008 at 08:11 AM
Rob why would ECU be ranked next to GREAT teams like that? What's next, ECU beating the USC Trojans? LOL!!!

Posted by: Fan Location: Crystal Coast on Sep 4, 2008 at 12:59 AM
Hmmmmmmmm...they will get muddy?

Posted by: Rob Location: NC on Sep 4, 2008 at 12:26 AM
I have lived down here for quite a while and I see two major misconceptions with this area known as "down east". One-We are next to the coast. The last time I saw a Rand McNally map, we are not. Two-ECU is a top 25 NCAA team that should be ranked with Ohio State, Alabama, or Oklahoma. They are not and never will be. I rest my case.

Posted by: Matt Location: Greenville on Sep 4, 2008 at 12:09 AM
Play the game, the packers, giants, jets, patriots and others play in blizzards so we can play in a little rain and wind. GO PIRATES, beat WVU

Posted by: Dave Location: Charleston, WV on Sep 3, 2008 at 11:53 PM
I would love to see the game played but not at a price of lives. Its not important with who whips who when your dealing with mother nature. ECU has a respectful program and hopefully we can arrange another day or time. P.S. Were not afraid to play you or anyone else.

Posted by: Steve Location: Kinston on Sep 3, 2008 at 11:28 PM
I am absolutely flabbergasted and have absolutely no comment.

Posted by: Pirate_Fan Location: Greenville on Sep 3, 2008 at 10:22 PM
I say push the game back to around 7:00 P.M. on Saturday. The storm should be out and then Purple Haze can begin. The Pirates are bringing it and the Mountineers will wish they had stayed in the mountains.

Posted by: Bleeds_Purple Location: Kinston NC on Sep 3, 2008 at 08:49 PM
I say move the game to Sunday if it can be played then thats great if not then cancel it. Funny to me all the WVU fans seem to want the game canceled? Sounds like they are the ones worried about getting their butts kicked!

Posted by: Beth Location: Greenville, N.C. on Sep 3, 2008 at 08:34 PM
There isn't going to be a game. Where's FEMA? They're dropping the ball again!

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 3, 2008 at 08:30 PM
let's try and find a news story that matters at least a little bit.

Posted by: 3.14rate Location: GVEGAS on Sep 3, 2008 at 07:51 PM
I think either way we will wip them Mountaineers. GO PIRATES! ARRRRRRGH!!!!!

Posted by: Mountie Location: Wheeling WV on Sep 3, 2008 at 07:15 PM
ECU should just forfeit so nobody gets hurt. GOOOOOOOOO WEST VIRGINIAAAAAA!!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Sep 3, 2008 at 06:35 PM
I agree with David!! Lets Gooooooo Mountaineers!!

Posted by: David Location: Greenville on Sep 3, 2008 at 06:22 PM
The way I see it is either way there is going to be some sort of disaster in Greenville. 1. The game is postponed due to the heavy rain and wind 2. WVU comes in here and beats the tar out of the Pirates.

Posted by: shaking head here on Sep 3, 2008 at 05:55 PM
it means that the game may get rained out....use your brains people....DUH!!!!

Posted by: ??? Location: NC on Sep 3, 2008 at 05:47 PM
It might keep them from getting beat like a red headed stepchild.

Posted by: Chris Location: Greenville on Sep 3, 2008 at 05:37 PM
ECU needs alot of rain to come , so they will have a couple extra days to practice for WVU. Cause they won't beat them like they beat VT.

Posted by: WOLFGANG Location: CHOCOWINITY on Sep 3, 2008 at 05:03 PM
What is this BASEBALL? Play the game. To the Offence, Just use short passes. If you have to kick a field goal get close to the goal line. Run the ball fast and hard. Come on lets get tough and dirty. Army and Navy would play the game. It would be good Officer training.

Posted by: get real on Sep 3, 2008 at 05:03 PM
Peoples lives are at stake. Who cares about a stupid ball game?

Posted by: zach Location: Jacksonville on Sep 3, 2008 at 04:35 PM
Play the game. It will be good football weather. talk about home field advantage!!
