The Wolfpack was on the road for their season opener. They played against Steve Spurrier's South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia. It was not a good night for the Wolfpack. In the second quarter, starting quarterback Russell Wilson went down hard. He was carted off the field and did not return. Wilson suffered a concussion. South Carolina then rolled over State. They won 34-0. The Gamecocks scored 21 points in the fourth quarter.
