The Greenville All-Stars continue to roll along in the 15 and under Babe Ruth State Tournament at Guy smith Stadium. Greenville beat Newport 5-0 to improve to 2-0 in the double elimination tournament.

Greenville's Chase McDonald led the way at the plate and on the mound. McDonald hit a two run home run and held Newport scoreless in picking up the victory on the hill.

Greenville advances to a third round match-up against Nash County who beat Henderson Vance 12-7 in an earlier second round game.

Wayne County 1

Note: Friday's American Legion Area 1 East Playoff game between Pitt County and Wayne County was postponed to Saturday at Pitt Community College. Wayne County leads the best-of-five series 2-1.

Why no coverage of the girls' softball tournament in Wilson? Pitt Co. 12 and under girls are still in it as are the girls from Williamston?! We're proud of the girls too, so let's show them!
