Greenville's Perdue Finishes 63rd At Olympic Swim Trials

Omaha - Greenville native Lauren Perdue finished off her week long adventure at the Olympic Swim Trials by placing 63rd out of 88 swimmers in Saturday's 50 meter freestyle preliminaries. Perdue posted a time of 26.36 which was about .7 of a second short of qualifying for the semi-finals. The JH Rose rising senior plans to make a run for the 2012 Olympics and was looking to gain experience in this Olympic Trials.

Meanwhile Lara Jackson has set an American record in
the 50-meter freestyle.
She touched in 24.50 seconds to break the old mark of 24.90 set
by Dara Torres at the 2000 trials. Torres finished second in the
same heat, and qualified third-quickest in 24.72 for Saturday
night's semifinals.
Jackson, a 21-year-old from El Paso, Texas, helped Arizona win
the women's NCAA championship this year.
Jessica Hardy was second-fastest in 24.63.
