WITN recently profiled a North Carolina shot putter and his efforts to compete in the 2008 Olympics.

Unfortunately, Mitchell Pope, who trains at NC State, didn't make the cut at the Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon at the end of June.

He knew it would be tough.

"It's tough because in the U.S. we've got some of the best shot putters in the world,” Pope said. “At least the top four best in the world. So right there it's a struggle."

WITN reporter Christina Vitale decided to try her hand at the shot put. Check out the video link to watch how she fared.
