No Magic Left For Tar Heels In Omaha

Omaha - There would not be a dramatic comeback for the third straight night for the UNC baseball team as Fresno State ended the Heels run in Omaha 6-1 Sunday night.

Tommy Mendonca drove in four runs, Clayton Allison came back
from a shoulder ailment to allow one run over six innings.

UNC fell behind 4-1 before Mike Fox called on his ace, Greenville's Alex White for the third straight night to help stop the bleeding. White pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the 5th to keep the Tar Heels within striking distance.

The Bulldogs kept the pressure on UNC, tapping White for a pair of runs in the 6th before ending the game on a 5-4-3 double play in the 9th. It is Fresno State's first ever championship series appearance. The Bulldogs get the Bulldogs of Georgia Monday night in game one of a three game series.
