Farmville Central High School Announces Head Football Coach

Farmville Central High School proudly announces the appointment of Scott Gardner as the new Varsity Head Football Coach. He replaces Dixon Sauls who has been an icon at the school for over twenty-five years. Gardner has been an assistant football coach at Farmville Central for the past nine years working with the offensive and defensive line. He also coached the track throws at Farmville Central for ten years and won thirteen state championships. In addition, Gardner has been the head football coach at Farmville Middle School for the past twelve years and has an overall record of 71-18.

Gardner graduated from Farmville Central in 1989 where he played football under Coach Sauls' leadership, ran track, and was a member of the weightlifting team. During his college years, he attended Chowan College and was a member of the football team. Gardner later returned to East Carolina University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree.

Gardner is the son of Ben and Tammy Gardner of Fountain and has one son, Zander. He plans to continue his teaching career at Farmville Middle School and looks forward to a rewarding coaching career. He is excited and desires that the public support for the football program at Farmville Central will continue. Go Jaguars!
