North Carolina Opens College World Series With LSU

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 2 national seed North Carolina will face No. 7 national seed Louisiana State in its opening game of the College World Series Sunday at Omaha’s Rosenblatt Stadium. The Tar Heels (51-12) and Tigers (48-17-1) will meet in game four of the CWS at 7 p.m. ET Sunday on ESPN2.

Carolina is 0-2 all-time against LSU, losing on neutral sites in regular season tournaments in 1990 and 1997. The Tar Heels also opened last year’s College World Series against the Southeastern Conference and posted an 8-5 win over Mississippi State. Carolina is 5-1 against the SEC in the postseason over the last three seasons.
