Time Warner Ordered To Carry MASN

The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network says a federally appointed arbitrator has ordered Time Warner Cable to carry the regional network in North Carolina.

The network that carries major league baseball and collegiate
sports said Monday the Federal Communications Commission arbitrator
denied the cable company's request to drop an earlier ruling from
another FCC arbitrator.

Both arbitrators found that Time Warner Cable discriminated
against the network. Time Warner Cable said it will appeal.

Time Warner Cable has offered to carry the network on a special
digital tier. The sports network has insisted that it be available
on basic cable.

The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network reaches about 700,000 people in
central and eastern North Carolina through other companies,
including satellite providers DirecTV and Dish Network.
