Sergio Garcia Leads Players Championship

Sergio Garcia fired a 6-under 66 to grab the lead after the first round of the Players Championship. He drained a 50-foot birdie putt on the 14th hole to highlight the round and help build a two-shot lead.

Kenny Perry and Paul Goydos benefited from an early start to shoot 68's and tie for second. The winds kicked up in the afternoon making for difficult scoring.

Of the 34 players that broke par on day one, only eight played in the afternoon.

Former British Open champ Todd Hamilton was one of them. He shot
a 69.
