Eastern North Carolina Native Comes Up Big Again

Ryan Zimmerman homered and Tim Redding and two relievers combined on a one-hitter as the Washington Nationals blanked Philadelphia 1-0.

Tim Redding allowed a second-inning single to Pedro Feliz over seven-plus innings, walking three and striking out two.

The Phillies put two runners in scoring position in the eighth but Luis Ayala pitched out of the jam.

Jon Rausch pitched the ninth to complete the one-hitter.

Zimmerman's second homer of the season came off Cole Hamels in the sixth inning. The Nationals improve to 3-and-0.
