Gordon Wins Atlanta Pole

Jeff Gordon bounced back from a hard crash last week in Las Vegas by winning the pole for the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Gordon posted a fast lap of 185.251 miles per hour at the mile and a-half Atlanta oval to easily beat Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the pole for Sunday's race.

Martin Truex Jr. made it a sweep of the top three places for Chevrolet with a lap of 183.807.

Carl Edwards, who has two wins in a row, qualified fourth. Six-time Atlanta winner Bobby Labonte qualified fifth in a Dodge.
