UNC's Dustin Ackley Named ACC Baseball Player Of The Week

After leading No. 2 North Carolina to a weekend sweep at Florida Atlantic, sophomore outfielder Dustin Ackley was named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week Monday. The Walnut Cove, N.C., native earns the third ACC weekly honor of his career.

A national player of the year candidate, Ackley recorded at least three hits in each game as the Tar Heels (3-0) picked up three road wins against FAU to start the season. He compiled a .714 batting average for the week and posted three home runs, seven RBI and five runs scored. Ackley belted a pair of solo shots in Friday?s 7-1 win and added a three-run blast in Sunday's series finale for six home runs in his last seven games dating back to last year?s College World Series.

The Tar Heels open their home schedule Tuesday against Old Dominion.
