Hattiesburg - Jeremy Wise scored 28 points to help Southern Mississippi beat East Carolina 92-69 on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles (11-10, 3-4 Conference USA) have won two of their last three games.
Southern Miss broke the game open for good with a 13-1 run midway through the first half that turned a 16-16 tie into a 29-17 lead.
Wise and R.L. Horton each had 3-pointer's in the run.
Southern Miss took advantage of cold shooting by the Pirates and some sloppy ball-handling in the first half. The Pirates (7-12, 1-5) hit just 29 percent from the field and had 11 turnovers and trailed 55-30 at halftime.
The Golden Eagles went on to lead by as much as 33 points in the second half.
Horton added 22 points for Southern Miss and Courtney Beasley chipped in 15. Sai'Quon Stone had 10 rebounds for the Golden Eagles.
John Fields paced four Pirates in double figures with 13 points. Sam Hinnant, Cory Farmer and Brock Young all added 10 apiece.
