'Canes Extend Division Lead

The Carolina Hurricanes scored the last three goals in a 3-1 win over the New York Rangers.

The Rangers led 1-0 until Sergei Samsonov and Rod Brind'Amour scored 2:17 apart in the second period. Trevor Letowski's third-period goal gave the Hurricanes a two-goal cushion.

Cam Ward stopped 34 shots and was perfect after Brendan Shanahan
scored a power-play goal just 62 seconds into the game. Ward made
14 saves in the final period of the Hurricanes' third victory in four games.

Henrik Lunqvist stopped 24 shots for the Rangers, who had won two in a row.
