Lowe's Comments About Recruit Are Secondary NCAA Violation

n..c. state

An official at North Carolina State says basketball coach Sidney Lowe broke an NCAA rule by discussing a prospect who has committed to play for the Wolfpack.

Associate athletic director for compliance Jon Fagg told The News & Observer of Raleigh that the secondary violation was inadvertent. It will be reported to the Atlantic Coast Conference, and reports on secondary violations are sent to the NCAA each quarter.

Fagg said Lowe is prohibited from commenting on the ability of a prospect, and punishments for this type of violation are determined
by the school. Fagg didn't reveal Lowe's penalty.

During a news conference last week, a reporter asked Lowe about C.J. Leslie, a sophomore who has committed to play for N.C. State.
Lowe didn't mention Leslie's name but later said the player mentioned by the reporter is very athletic, playing extremely well and is going to get better.
