Hurricanes Pounded By Senators

Antoine Vermette had his first two-goal game of the season to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 5-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Martin Gerber made 36 saves.

Mike Fisher, Randy Robitaille and Jason Spezza also scored for Ottawa, which became the first Eastern Conference team to reach 30 wins.

But the news wasn't all good for Ottawa. Captain Daniel Alfredsson injured his hip and was forced out of the game early in the second period.

The Senators lead the East with 64 points.
