College basketball is poised to return to the Pitt Community College campus this fall under the direction of Greenville’s Chad Reynolds, the school announced at a press conference Wednesday morning.
Reynolds, 35, is a Kinston native who has built an impressive coaching résumé in Eastern North Carolina. His experience includes three seasons as an assistant to Ron Lievense at Barton College and a stint as director of basketball operations at East Carolina University, where he was also an assistant coach to former Pirates skipper Bill Herrion.
“We had some truly outstanding candidates to choose from in our search for the right coach to restart our basketball program, and Chad Reynolds proved to be the ideal fit,” said PCC Athletics Director Junior Bailey. “We feel Coach Reynolds has the right combination of coaching experience, management skills and leadership ability to garner community support for Bulldogs basketball and make this venture successful.”
Bailey said he felt Reynolds would be a “long-term hire” for PCC who would make basketball a positive addition to the school’s already successful athletics program, which includes baseball, softball, golf and volleyball.
