Ben Hartman's 34-yard field goal at the final
gun gave East Carolina a 41-38 win over 24th-ranked Boise State in
the Hawaii Bowl.

Chris Johnson set an NCAA bowl record with 408 all-purpose yards
for the 8-and-5 Pirates, who won their first postseason game since
the 2000 Galleryfurniture.com Bowl.

Johnson rushed for 223 yards. He caught three passes for 32
yards and returned six kickoffs for 153 yards. But he committed a
costly fumble late in the game that almost sent it to overtime.
With East Carolina trying to run out the clock near midfield,
Marty Tadman scooped up Johnson's fumble and returned it 47 yards
for a touchdown to tie it at 38 with 1:25 left.
But East Carolina took the ensuing kickoff and drove to the
Broncos 17 to set up Hartman's kick.

I lived in Boise for a few years and by all accounts it is a nice place to live. Set in a valley that is surrounded by mountains with Skiing in the winter and Fishing for Trout in the summer. A truly beautiful place to live and fortunate to have experienced what the West has to offer. So while residing in Boise one could not get away from BSU this Bronco that culminating with last year's Fiesta Bowl win in Tempe. From a valley looking at the top of a mountain, one can only appreciate a mountain’s true glory by starting from the bottom with a single step. Thank you offense for blocking; defense for laying licks (WOW!); coaching staff for providing direction; Cheerleaders for always showing enthusiasm; the Band for keeping the beat and Thank you Coach Skip for bringing pride back to ECU! First down, Pirates! Please keep up the good work. Merry Christmas and Congrats Pirate Nation!
