LSU is keeping its football coach.
Tigers athletic director Skip Bertman says Les Miles will remain
at the school rather than consider a move to Michigan. Bertman says
Miles and the school chancellor have already worked out a contract
that they're happy with, but hasn't been signed.
The announcement came less than three hours before the
fifth-ranked Tigers played Number-14 Tennessee in the SEC title
Michigan officials had asked for and received permission from
LSU to meet with Miles about the Wolverines' head football coaching
vacancy. But Bertman asked the Wolverines to wait until after
today's game before starting negotiations.
Michigan has been seeking a coach since Lloyd Carr stepped down
last month. Miles played at Michigan and was on the coaching staff
in Ann Arbor, where he met his wife.
The Tigers are 10-and-2 after going 11-and-2 in each of Miles'
first two seasons with the team.
