'Canes Roll past Capitals

Cory Stillman and Eric Staal provided Carolina's goals in a 5-0 shutout of Washington.

Stillman scored a hat trick just 11:28 into the game, the first two goals coming on power plays. He also had an assist on Staal's eleventh goal of the season, which capped the scoring early in the third period.

Stillman has 19 points despite missing the Hurricanes' first four games of the season. He owns an eight-game point streak that's helped Carolina grab a sizable lead in the Southeast Division.

Capitals goalie Olie Kolzig was lifted following Staal's second goal of the night. Kolzig finished with 19 saves for the Caps, who've dropped nine of eleven since a 3-and-0 start.
