NASCAR has conceded that water got into the fuel supply of more than two cars during yesterday's Pep Boys Auto 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. NASCAR's John Darby, who serves as Nextel Cup director, says that multiple teams showed positive for some level of water.
Darby has dismissed sabotage as a possible explanation and says the problem likely occurred in the piping that runs from the storage tanks to the pumps, or in the pumps themselves.
The amount of water affected at least two drivers, Denny Hamlin
and Dave Blaney, who finished 24th and 38th respectively.
