ECU beat UTEP 45-52 in El Paso, Texas. A quarterback sneak by Rob Kass in the first overtime gave victory to the Pirates.
He and receiver Juwon Crowell made a connection on a 34-yard touchdown pass that tied the game at 39-39.
Praise is due for ECU wide receiver Dwayne Harris. He not only ran for a touchdown in the third quarter, he threw a long ball to James Bryant for a score.
The Pirates next take on NC State at Dowdy Ficklen Stadium in Greenville. Game time on Saturday is 4:30 p.m.
