Purple-Gold Fan Jam Set For Oct. 19th

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Fans will have the opportunity to get their first glimpse of the 2007-08 East Carolina University men and women's basketball teams Friday, October 19 as a part of the Purple-Gold Fan Jam. The preseason festivities surrounding Pirate basketball will be held inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum with doors opening at 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public with general admission seating. The event will commence at 6 p.m.

The event will be hosted by actor Dennis Haskins, best known for his role as Mr. Belding on the hit TV show Saved By The Bell. It will include special Saved By The Bell skits and trivia contests. There will also be an autograph session with Haskins following the event.

The night will also include a scrimmage, introductions, contests and giveaways. The ECU dance team and cheerleaders, Nubiance Hip Hop Dance Team, ECU Marching Pirates Drum Line and pep band will make special performances.

ECU Head Football Coach Skip Holtz and the entire Pirate football team are also scheduled to appear before they depart to begin final preparations for their game against NC State on Saturday, October 20.

Campus Dining will be serving dinner starting at 4:30 p.m. outside Gate One.
