'Canes Roll Past Maple Leafs

Cory Stillman's goal snapped a 1-1 tie in the first period and the Carolina Hurricanes went on to rout the Toronto Maple Leafs 7-1.

Carolina had seven different scorers including Matt Cullen, who got his first goal since returning to the Hurricanes. He was traded back to Carolina during the summer after one season with the Rangers.

Justin Williams, Ray Whitney, Scott Walker, Jeff Hamilton and Eric Staal also scored against goalie Vesa Toskala.

Williams, Stillman, Cullen and Rod Brind'Amour each had two
assists.

Toronto's Mats Sundin assisted on Brian McCabe's goal for his 916th point with the Maple Leafs. That ties him with Darryl Sittler for the club record.

Maple Leafs forward Jason Blake played for the first time since
announcing Monday that he is battling a rare form of leukemia. He's
being treated with medication and doesn't expect to miss any playing time.
