Panthers Slip Past Saints 16-13

Steve Smith and John Kasay led Carolina's
fourth-quarter comeback in a 16-13 triumph at New Orleans.
Kasay drilled a game-winning 52-yard field goal as time expired
after Smith fought off two tacklers to turn a short catch into a
crucial first down. Smith also grabbed a 17-yard touchdown pass
that tied the game with 3:53 remaining.
David Carr engineered the late scoring drives after suffering a
back injury in the first half. Carr was 10-of-17 for 119 yards and
an interception.
Kasay hit three field goals for the 3-and-2 Panthers, who
dropped the Saints to 0-and-4.
Mike Karney's two-yard touchdown run put the Saints ahead 13-6
early in the second half.
Drew Brees was picked off twice while completing 29 of
his 47 passes for 252 yards. Reggie Bush had 67 yards on 21 carries
for the Saints.
Olindo Mare missed a 54-yard field goal
try shortly before the two-minute warning after having a kick
blocked earlier in the fourth quarter.
