Bears Say It's Time To Get Griese

After months and months of defending his starting quarterback, Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith is making a switch under center. Brian Griese replaces Rex Grossman for this week's game at Detroit.

The much-anticipated announcement comes with the defending NFC
champions sitting on a 1-and-2 record with the NFL's 30th-ranked
offense.

Whether this is the end for Grossman in Chicago or just a temporary switch after several rough outings remains to be seen. He has six interceptions and one touchdown this season and got picked off three times in last week's 34-10 loss to Dallas. His contract expires after this season.

Griese is a 10-year veteran and was a Pro Bowl pick with Denver in 2000. He's also been released three times -- by the Broncos, Miami and Tampa Bay.
