The Jacksonville Cardinals went on the road and beat Laney 10-7 Monday night in a game that was originally scheduled for Friday but postponed because of lightning.
The Cardinals scored all 10 of their points in the first half. Their lone touchdown of the game followed a Josh Weber interception in the second quarter. Will Cooper capitalized on a quarterback keeper to give jacksonville a 7-0 lead.
Then with time running out in the first half, Tony Mayo nailed a 41 yard field goal that proved to be the difference in the game.
Laney quarterback Mike Sheehan scored a touchdown in the third quarter to complete the scoring.
The game was the season opener for both teams.
