The Creswell Tigers rolled over the visiting Columbia Wildcats, 43-8 on senior night to go undefeated in Tideland Conference play for the first time since 1983.
It took less than 1 minute for the Tiger defense to take charge of the
game and leave no question in the minds of the crowd who the victor would be.
After 3 rushing plays from the Wildcats the Tigers had pushed the
visitors back some 12 yards. The defensive stand of the Tigers would give the Wildcats a 4th and 22 from their own 19. The long snap on the punt would miss the mark and go over the punters head allowing senior Ralphon Owens to pick up the loose ball and scamper into the end zone.
The score would give the Tigers the quick 6-0 lead. Owens would add the two point conversion dragging 3 Wildcat defenders with him into the end zone to bring the score to 8-0. From there the Tiger rushing game would go to work and push the Wildcat defense back time after time. The Tigers would explode for 20 more points in the first quarter to put the game well out of reach 28-0. From that point the Tigers would rest their starters and the coaches would agree to roll the clock continuously the rest of the game. At the half the score would read the Tigers 36, the Wildcats 0.
Tigers adding to the scoring effort included Ralphon Owens who would add 3 scores on the night. Owens would add a fumble recovery for a TD, a interception return for a TD and a rushing TD for the Tigers. Timelle Sawyer would add 1 rushing TD for the Tigers and take 3 carries for 29 yards.
Gary Blount would catch a Shivon Spear pass to start off the second quarter and go 80 yards for the score. Quarterback Shivon Spear would go 2-2 on the night adding 94 yards passing on the night through just over 1 quarter. The Tigers will look to carry their winning momentum into the playoffs next week at home. Game time is slated for 7:30
