To "To Martin Co. Born and Raised" to leave it up to the students for a 4 year age range was the biggest mistake right there. I have never in my entire life ever heard of a single county/city that leaves it up to the students to decide upon what to name the new schools. Also, Skewarkee and Moratoc High would have been very good names as well. Skewarkee in Williamston and Moratoc in Robersonville. I still think though that East Martin and West Martin would have been the most suitable so I'll still call them that.

I too feel like the names of the new consolidated schools could have and should have been different. They could have been Skewarkee High School and Moratoc High School--going back to the heritage of the county. The mascots could have been the "Stallions" and the "Mustangs". But it wasn't the choice of the taxpayers, it was a joint effort of the students from the schools being brought together and THEY are the ones who chose and submitted the names and mascots to the school board for approval. To **** from Jamesville....only the AP poll does that. Most of the time it is just Riverside or Riverside Martin. GO KNIGHTS!!!

To **** the majority of the time Chocowinity is behind Southside, or Pinetown after Northside.

It will still be known as East Martin and West Martin High School in this household, and I went to high school at Bear Grass High. I have no problem with the consolidation at all, but I'm embarrased to be from some county that they decide to mock Durham Riverside for one high school, when the former Williamston High is on the opposite side of town than the Roanoke River and also when they name the former Roanoke High after a creek near Aurora. It amazes me how Martin County is full of dumb people. I'm glad I am gone and wish my parents would move to. Also Eastside and Westside would have been way better than these dumb names. At least Beaufort County has made smarter choices by calling their schools Northside and Southside, considering the side of the Pamlico they are on. I have heard people form the rest of Eastern North Carolina refer to both Martin and Bertie counties as the twin jokes of this area.

to boogyman i take nothing from riverside-martin and plymouth but albemarle was pick to win the 1-aa state game thats why they are ranked higher than some teams that have not lost a game so when the time come and you say riverside will be in the 1-aa title game they might play the same team and tarboro beat both north pitt and washington tar52 np8 and tar54 was17 so we did play them good and should have beat sw edgecombe lost by 6 and first flight is not ranked and when they was such and such and 0 they still did not get any votes to get in the polls just because you see the team with a good rec does not mean they are that good its just the teams you play at the right time

So East Martin High School is # 8 in the state now at 5-0, and may win the state 1-AA championship. Hope West Martin can get it together and win some before the season is over with.

By the way why is the name "williamston" in front of the Riverside Knights school name for? You don't see Bath in front of Northside or Chocowinity in front of Southside or even Roanoke in front of Southcreek. So some of us prefer just Riverside Knights. THANKS

To dreday, just to let you know something, North Pitt lost to Riverside 29-12. North Pitt destroyed Washington by a score of I think it was 54-10. We also beat Manteo 34-12 and they beat First Flight earlier in the year. Washington is not all that bad for a 3-A school. If some of these 3-A and 4-A schools would play us, our boys would beat most of the 3-A teams, and so would Plymouth. I bet we at least would give Rose a game and beat Rocky Mount. Since you said you are at North Edgecombe and you have powerhouse rivals, I'll admit it would be very very tough to beat your 2 rivals Tarboro and Southwest Edgecombe, but we would at least compete, and so would Plymouth.
