Southside Wins In Overtime, Seahawks 3-0

(Bayboro) -- The Southside Seahawks stayed perfect on the season beating Pamlico County 18-12 in overtime.

The game was played on a Wednesday night in hopes of avoiding bad weather from Hurricane Earl.

The Seahawks led 12-0 at halftime by way of a Terrill Moore quarterback sneak and Julien Brown's three yard touchdown run but Southside failed to score in the second half.

Pamlico County would rally to tie the game at 12 and send it into two overtimes. In the second OT Southside quarterback Jordan Benston, in for an injured Terrill Moore, scored the game winner on a fourth down play near the one yard line.

Southside will now have nine days to prepare for a home game against Columbia set for September 10th. Pamlico County will host a fourth consecutive game to start the season when the Hurricanes entertain West Craven on September 10th.

All you guys up here going back and forth with each other. You need to stop beating each other down. The one who brags is the one who looses.

"boogerman", the 1999 Williamston Tigers could NOT have beaten half of the 4A teams in the state. They would have struggled to beat any 4A team. What you based your absolutely silly arguement on is a mystery to anyone who knows anything about the game! You must have been the waterboy for that team and really believed in them. A player should know better than to think a small 1A school can have the depth necessary to hang with a 4A school. Truth is, some of the worst 4A programs in the state would have ran you until your tongues were hanging out by the start of the 2nd quarter and would have dragged your green backsides from one end of the field to the other. The only time they wouldn't have been dragging green snowflakes and cocoa puffs is when they just ran right over you, steamrolling you, on their way to the end zone. There is nothing wrong with a dream, but unless you want to get laughed at, be a hero in your own mind and keep it to yourself.

Old Tight End, Kellum has never made the schedule at Southside. Futhermore three of the teams we play non-conference have gone deep in the playoffs in recent years. Just two years ago N. Duplin sweeped thru the west and played in a State Championship. Creswell has gone deep the past three years and Pamlico has been consistently good except for last year. We were scrambling to find a replacement for Rosewood when they came up at the last minute and said we have to play in-county. Also most non-conference games have a two year contract so no, Coach Kellum had nothing to do with the schedule.

Well I wont argue with you about the school board. The school board is full of morons there. BTW, it's just Jamesville that no longer exists. Bear Grass never even had a football team. That's only 1 whole football team.

Yep and now with the consolidated schools 2 whole football teams no longer exist. Probably 60 kids who were on the team last year out on the street. Maybe they can go hang out in G'ville now and find new "teams" to be a part of. Martin Co. school board should be so proud of what they have done.

To @Warren, for you to say 1A football is nothing, you are halfway right but the 1999 Williamston Tigers could have beaten half of the 4A teams in the state. I wont go and say Rose, cause they were one of the best 4A teams, but Conley, Northern Nash, and Rocky Mount, easily would have been beaten by us and they were all 4A at the time, until Nash Central and South Central took many students away from those schools. Also Riverside will have a legitimate chance at winning the state 1A or 1AA (probably 1AA) championship. GO KNIGHTS! Also, South Creek I'm pulling for you guys as well as I had friends who went to Roanoke and played football there.
